Art and Business

I've always done art for the sake of doing art. I enjoy the process of making art and experimenting. I love learning new things and seeing how I can apply it to my artwork. The thing that I still haven't even figured out yet is running a business. I don't even know the first thing about running a business. I have worked in retail for majority of my working years so far, and I know how to be good at selling but actually running a business, the paperwork that is involved with making it a business, and all that stuff. It's hard. I mostly jumped into the business side of art making since I left my previous job. I still highly enjoy everything there is to art making, but now I have to also figure out what types of art will sell, whether its the niche things I enjoy or something widely popular. I still make things for myself, especially for practice, but when it comes down to all the tiny things when it comes to a business, it's a whole different mindset.
