Con Prep and Stress

If you follow me on some of my other social media sites (like Bluesky or Instagram), you would know that I have a few conventions between the months of April and May that I will be attending to sell! (As well as one in July but that one is further away).

The preparation for this brings back some memories for me. In school, I would always do my assignments on time because I had a set deadline. The only time that never applied to me was when a project was involved. I'd wait until almost the last minute because my brain just didn't want to prepare for it. I would still always do them but my brain kinda shut down leading up to the due date. Now that I'm out of a school setting, I have to make up deadlines for myself just to be able to prepare for selling at a convention. This brings up another good point of figuring out what I enjoy versus what another person enjoys. I like making art for myself a lot, but when it is in front of someone else, they might not like the same thing I make. Its a hurdle that I have to get over since it's not really a big deal if someone doesn't like my work or if I'm portraying something that they like differently. I stress/psyche myself out a lot when I really shouldn't.

Speaking of conventions, the booth setup that I have now will probably change quite a bit as I'm bringing in new stock as well as different ways of presenting my prints. Hopefully the end result will look better in person than in my head!

One last thing, if you want to see me at a specific convention, I'm more than happy to look into more places to go! Currently, I'm mostly stationed around the Northeast Area but if there's a bigger interest in other places, I would love to check it out. Things can and will always change so we'll see what the future brings us.
